Leica M240, Pentax 645 on Greubel Forsey

Leica M240, Pentax 645 on Greubel Forsey Leica…but then http://www.kenrockwell.com/pentax/645d/I’ve been using this Pentax 645D for two years. Only the Leica M240 and the Sony’s ability to share all my Summilux, crons, etc..moved me to request for a Sony. Unlike my Greubel Forseys, I don’t pay for cameras…only the Leica I have to buy. My previous cameras were 4×5 film systems, Pentax 67 and the Mamiyas. I moved to digital Canon 1Ds for quite a number of years, enough to produce 3 paid books. So…this is NOT a review of cameras, just a sharing. In case people/readers are thinking of FULL FRAME and/or BIGGER. I am not a pro. I am not even a GOOD knowledgeable photographer…BUT I am a REAL 99% of the market, I guess, and...

GREUBEL FORSEY IP 1, Vision 30, 8 years on

Greubel Forsey Greubel Forsey. Is the best , MOST EXPENSIVE, investment, statement of wealth object (yacht, supercar, football club etc). I have brought RM, PP, Dufour, Daniels, Journes, and AP to this debate. http://bernardatdermawan.blogspot.sg/2013/08/the-number-of-rolex-and-omega-watches.html 2006, at the Opus 6 reveal, I was beaten. Years back, I bought my FIRST GF. Clint Eastwood, “A man’s got to know his limitations” The Greubel Forsey Invention Piece 1, second hand. I doubt many collectors who have reached this ( self proclaimed) Olympian level, buy their FIRST GF as a platinum IP 1. But I did. After 18 months of photos and close study…I bought the next one, a new 24/25 single incline platinum white. For non watch people, what I had done, was...

Clutter at Home is arguably desired

Clutter ? My home , my or our house, zen and clutter Chinese New Year is where almost all the Chinese community do some house , home , and clutter cleaning. Well , my clutter is both my peace with Zen and my home. I can’t clean it by anything over a factor of maybe 10%. With 6,700 of indoor area..erm that’s almost 2 to 3 sizes of most homes here…I wasn’t rich, just blessed with good friends who then in 1989, knew I needed a BIG place with a low price. They also knew I was sentimental. The man who will not sell his home, especially one I made and built. It’s much more than a house. It’s my memories. Probably the memories of all of my core family too....

Vianney Halter, Jules Verne rivets

That Jules Verne rivets and steel experience Vianney Halter and watch makers took 300 years to put rivets and make them so small, ant head size, to create that Jules Verne rivets and steel , steam punk aesthetic. More, it’s an experience. All three watches here are no longer made. Neither can any of the three be remade or duplicated at their original costs. How rare can things get, if you don’t go above $300,000 ?  ...

Cameras in World War Two ? New cameras Sony RX?

Cameras in World War Two ? New cameras Sony RX?

Cameras ? Cameras ? Thinking of new cameras SONY RX or Leicas ? That’s me taking my own selfie now…by placing by camera, a Sony RX1 35mm with a hi contrast BW setting, manual focus to the support, an exercise rower, then placing the RX1 on it. But…Journalists were issued Speed Graphics till after the Korean War. Robert Capa used a HUGE camera, probably so, for his famous shots on Omaha Beach. Journalists used Speed Graphics till after the Korean War. There were also a lot of Graflex Speed and Crown Graphics cameras used by military photographers, you can imagine carrying one of those heavy beasts into the war zone) but they took (and still take) very nice sharp pictures. I can see that they were using Speed Graphics were commonly used for...
