Artifacts of 2001 to 2038

Artifacts “Artefacts” of an era 2001 to 2038 mean a very different thing from any encyclopedia’s description to both you and I. In our modern, present and possibly future world, I dare say 2038, we may think only of a narrow definition of “what is an artifact”. What makes a 2001 to 2038 artifact? I have a very narrow description. It has to define what shaped that economy, politics and the main objects of desire and industrial demand. It was once the car, the television, even an entire home with all of what defined its occupant owners. What changed ? After the world’s greatest series of catastrophes which happened so close to each other, WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam…an era of illusionary peace made us all wonky. Yes. After...

Grand Eras of Great Value

Grand Eras of Great Value

“Grand” and “History” The words “grand” and “history” come often together. Value is not always automatically linked or followed, but is without exception, but only with degree, compulsory included. Great Eras of the automobiles, travel and architecture have passed. The FIRST great era of watchmaking has finally ended…not the last chapter, but certainly one. From 2003, I had a great, certainly grand, invite to be a moderator for a “Mission Impossible”. I was invited, by both The HourGlass of Singapore, no small company, it was wisely listed on the main board. Max Busser, 3 years before he was to become a historical figure of MB&F. In 1998, I had set my hobby’s gunsights, a twin barrel...

Leica Sonnetar , a lens by MS 1.1 50mm for Leica M240

Leica Sonnetar What on earth has Leica to do with a Sonnetar or any M S lens? I enjoy the MS Sonnetar on my Leica 240M-P The use of VERY challenging, yet rewarding lenses, the MS Sonnetar is one. On the maestro powered M240 Leica. Not for everyone. But… http://www.japanexposures.com/shop/camera-lens/ms-optical-sonnetar-50-1.1.html All these are by the 2 named equipment today, 6 hours ago. The pic of the Leica and Sonnetar are by a Sony A7. http://eyescoffee.com/collectcamera/msoptical/index.php   See: http://photorumors.com/2012/02/22/ms-optical-sonnetar-25mm-f1-1-lens-for-pentax-q-mirrorless-camera/ Leica Sonnetar It needs personal calibration. The aperture ring will turn when used. The focus will turn and change the aperture. In other words,...

Muhammad Ali Born January 1942 legend

Muhammad Ali Legend The first ever superstar of the age of TV and Mass communication. He was a GLOBAL superstar…as described many times by many journalists. Sinatra had to join a Q to see him. Burt Lancaster was a commentator during a fight. Norman Mailer would talk about him. A 3 million dollar pot was HUGE when that era, James Bond movie villains held the world ransom for 1 million. Somethings are NOT impossible. He made HIS own pursuit of a sport famous… he was an inspiration for anyone who says somethings are impossible. It is GOOD to remember him, even if most here have never watches him fight LIVE…I was / am fortunate. When his leather bound book appeared, signed…and hand printed and bound, for $6,000 USD…I got myself a copy. I...

Buy low. In this market, picking the very best made.

Buy low. In this market, picking the very best made.

How To buy low. You need uncontrollable set of events. (1) A wealthy, previously or currently wealthy seller…willing to sell. (2) Knowing the fundamental, not the advertised sentiment, value. (3) Having the $250,000 USD it will take.   I believe in unknown factors: LUCK and FORTUNE of the owner is numero uno. I have been UNEXPLAINABLY fortunate, lucky and blessed…which is why I never cover/conceal my watch serial numbers, they sell easily..to put it mildly. Then again, if single men all buy stuff instead of legally working clothing and gifts for women (the title pic)…we may have variable market dynamics. Here is what became LOW and what did not: First the platinum Parmigiani tourbillons fell, but I think, fundamentally these were made...

Greubel Forsey rare double 30 WG available!

Greubel Forsey Greubel Forsey rare fine double 30 WG VISION. In a slate grey, not the 2 million dollar platinum MOP, is coming in FS at auction in HKK by Philips. Probably 2006 to 2009. Less than 70 made in this form. All should be easily documented, certified. Think: WILL you buy something that supply is vague at best? Yet…demand is NOT explained, illustrated but by vague terms: “history”, “DNA”, parts of cars which are discarded…even if used in costly ways? No fake Greubel Forseys exist at all, in anything close to a child’s drawing. Let me be clear, I do not work for or will gain, from these watchmakersl Reserve entry bid is running in low, below $250,000 USD…BARGAIN price IF you win at $400k. New in 2007, it was...
