Part 4 IWC is Kurt Klaus…the year the Caliber 5000 was launched

Unlike today, the early years had NO groups of watch writers and bloggers who appear to praise all the brands…and own only 2 watches. No. Thoese days, collectors like us visited the factories on our own…and got to know many of the people there. There were NO blogs, no magazines…..yet. e0A I think the world is BETTER today. But watch bosses have to remain humble. Money changes people. The honesty and humility are NO longer there. at least at management. Kurt is a private man, humble…and truthful…helpful and kind. A watchmaker of the people. He has made IWC what it is. His memory is not so good today. But…what saddens me is thatkhe is given a small desk at the open office. 1998 and how each prototype rotor had to be hand made and tested. IWC was making the world’s largest rotor..and it has a problem suspending it from a central spindle. The computers were not as good then, and fax machines were still used....

BUT…if you want something done well, and custom made to provide the right torque and counter weight…and to be GOOD. These IWC springs for the Caliber 5000, and NOT for all IWC watches are: Hand made and bent Tiny painful work Back breaking Time consuming Delicate In other words…they will last forever, not rust, and will be EXPENSIVE.
